if you already have a version of maya 2008 that does not work you can try just using the crack that has been posted seperately but i would suggest downloading the whole package so we’re all on the same page.
install notes
1. First Create a directory on the c: drive (even if you install maya on different drive) called FLEXLM
***so the drive should be C:\FLEXLM
2. Copy the aw.dat and awkeygen.exe file to the FLEXlm directory.
***these two files are in the crack directory, or you can download the crack above.
3. Install Maya
4. Go to start–>all programs–>Autodesk–>common utilities–>FlexLM license utilities
5. Under the system settings tab copy Ethernet address
(there may be two,look closely,try the second number first
6. Open the file aw.dat with Wordpad (not notepad) (from the directory c:\FLEXLM)
***right click on aw.dat and select “open with” then select wordpad. or open wordpad then open file from within.
7. replace the words “your host”
with the copied Ethernet address. Save and close wordpad
the default wordpad file will look like this:
FEATURE MayaUnltd sgiawd 2008.000 permanent uncounted 0 \
HOSTID=your_host
the new wordpad file should look something like this:
FEATURE MayaUnltd sgiawd 2008.000 permanent uncounted 0 \
HOSTID=00017b35171f
the HOSTID will be the numbers you copied from the ethernet address field
8. Use the start–> run utility and type: C:\Flexlm\awkeygen.exe aw.dat
***between the awkeygen.exe and the aw.dat there should be a space there. make sure there is space or just copy and paste the above ino the run
9. Goto start–>all programs–>Autodesk–>Maya 2008–>Licensing
select “I have a license that I need to install” click next
10. select “I would like to install my license from a file” click next
11. Browse to the path of the file C:\FLEXlm\aw.dat
12. Click install
13. Restart computer
*** some computers will automatically run maya without restarting. some computers will prompt you to restart.
14. run Maya
15. If you get an error start the process again with the other Ethernet address from line 5. (that is if you had two ethernet addresses. if you still get an error then you are doing something wrong.)
i have just installed and the above steps worked perfectly for me. feel free to ask questions before installing if you do not understand any of the steps.
